This week we welcome Sean Sullivan Executive Director of the Maine Brewers’ Guild to the podcast to discuss a cool new statewide beer collaboration and more about the Maine brewing industry.
Maine’s beer scene has not been immune to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Each brewery has had to find unique ways to stay above water and sometimes that means working together even more than they already do.
Traditionally, the Brewers’ Guild puts on beer festivals and other various events to help raise funds for the non-profit, but with the COVID-19 pandemic it’s been difficult for anyone to put on such events. In place of such festivals, the MBG has created the Maine Brewers’ Guild Collaboration IPA 2020 to hep raise the funds needed to support the organization during this times.
The collaboration had donations or discounts given by Crosby Hops, Yakima Chief Hops, Maine Malt House, Blue Ox Malt House, and Amherst Labels. The beer was brewed by 39 different Maine breweries with roughly the same recipe. The label for the canned beer was kept consistent to show which breweries are included in this project.
Of course, Justin Soderberg and Orono Brewing Company had to brew the beer. Check it out at 61 Margin Street in Orono, Maine.
